Adults also work with an individuals or small groups to complete activities for Topic, Reading, Writing, Number, Shape, Space and Measure. Each half term we send a newsletter to tell you about our work.

Reading: we teach reading through phonics using the Song of Sounds.

Writing: children learn to form letters correctly and then move on to blending sounds to make words. By the end of the year children should be able to write simple sentences independently.

Number: children learn how to recognise, count and order to at least 20. We also do simple addition and subtraction

Shape, Space and Measure: children learn the names and properties of 2D and 3 D shape. They also learn how to measure and weigh things.

Topic: we also do lots of activities linked to our key texts:

Autumn 1: Where the Wild Things Are/Bringing Rain to the Kapiti Plain

Autumn 2: Halibut Jackson/ I'm Henry Finch

Spring 1: Little Red/ The Magic Paintbrush

Spring 2: I will not ever never eat a tomato/ The Tiny Seed

Suumer 1: The Night Pirates/ Willy the Wimp
