Children in Years 1-6 will be bringing home a ‘knowledge organiser’ this week. It is a document which lists the key information that the children will need to know as they work through the topic from Year 1-6.
All children across the school are studying the same topic at the appropriate level for them and will revisit each topic every two years in order to build on knowledge and skills already gained. We would really appreciate it if you could talk about the information with the children and assist them in doing some background research which will give them a really good head start when they begin their topic work. For younger children in Year 1 and 2 please just discuss at a basic level – who they were, where they were from, what food did they like etc. Please don’t be put off by the detail in the document – that is what is being studied across all year groups. Older children will be looking at the topic in more detail and should be able to carry out research independently as well as discussing it with you. Please see your child’s class teacher if you have any questions.
